Discover, Create, and Grow with Ananda Island Hub
Ananda Island Hub | Nature-Based Learning on Panglao Island
At Ananda Island Hub, the island is our classroom—where children grow through wonder, creativity, and connection to the Earth. Nestled on the shores of Panglao Island, Philippines, our learning community celebrates the magic of nature-based education through hands-on discovery, mindful connection, creative expression and creative kids workshops.
Our Living Learning Space:
Â
Our growing eco-learning environment is designed to nurture creativity, independence, and respect for nature. Children can play, build, explore, and create in spaces made entirely from natural and reclaimed materials.
Here’s what makes Ananda so special:
- Vegetable Garden: A thriving permaculture garden where children discover where food comes from and learn to grow it with care.
- Chicken Coop: A cozy home for our chickens, teaching children the beauty of responsibility and the cycles of life.
- Reclaimed Wood Play Area: Climbing frames, swings, and spaces that inspire courage, balance, and imaginative play.
- Meditation Circle: A peaceful spot for mindfulness, storytelling, and quiet reflection beneath the trees.
- Crafts & Workshop Space: A creative hub with handmade tables and chairs built from reclaimed wood, perfect for art, building, and discovery.
- Woodland Corner: A little forest for big adventures—where every stick and stone can spark a story.
Our space is alive with creativity, laughter, and the hum of island life—an ever-evolving environment that grows along with our children.
Creativity in Community:
Our Open Day Celebration
On our successful Open Day, we invited families to join us for a joyful craft workshop and music day. Everyone took part in creating hanging coconut shell ornaments for the trees in our garden. Using natural and reclaimed materials, families and children worked side by side, sharing laughter, creativity, and connection. The ornaments now shimmer in our garden as a living reminder of community and the simple beauty of creating together. We shared home cooked BBQ vegetarian skewers and fireside stories as the evening drew to a close.

Looking Back:
Music Essence Week
Earlier this year, we hosted our Music Essence Week, a joyful celebration of rhythm and community. We invited talented local musicians to share their skills, teaching our students how to feel and express rhythm through the sounds of nature.
Together, we designed and crafted our very first official Ananda Island Hub instrument — the Drum Boo, made entirely from locally sourced bamboo. This beautiful creation now holds a special place in our musical circles, symbolizing creativity, collaboration, and sustainable artistry.
Halloween Fun on the Island
Our Halloween Workshop was a day of laughter, creativity, and adventure!
Families and children joined a treasure hunt through the garden, searched for a marshmallow prize, and gathered around the fire for roasting treats. Together, we built a spooky house, crafted a giant spider web in the woods, played apple-bobbing games, and broke open a festive piñata.
We ended the day the best way we know how—with vegetarian BBQ skewers and fireside stories under the stars.
