Music Essence Week at Ananda Hub:
Â
A Journey of Rhythm, Creativity, and Community
This past week at Ananda Hub was all about rhythm, emotion, and connection as we jumped into our Music Essence Week, a special learning journey designed to immerse children in the mindful world of sound, creativity, and self-expression. What made Music Essence Week truly special was not only the music we created, but the community spirit that carried it. We welcomed local musicians to share their passion, crafted our own instruments, and celebrated our learning with a beautiful student-led performance.

Inviting Local Music Friends to Inspire Young Minds
Music has a unique power to connect cultures and hearts, and we wanted our learners to feel that authenticity. We invited Filipino musicians from the local community to join us in our music essence week and, introduce children to the magic of rhythm, beat, and voice through traditional and modern approaches. Their presence was not just inspiring but grounding, reminding our young learners that music lives in every corner of our island and flows through the daily life of Panglao.
The children listened, clapped, and moved freely, absorbing musical knowledge not only through instruction, but through shared energy and cultural experience. This exchange honored our mission at Ananda Hub: creating meaningful bridges between worldschooling, local community, and real-life learning.
Crafting Our Own Instrument: The Drum-Boo
One of the highlights of the week was building our very first Ananda Hub instrument: the Drum-Boo. Created from bamboo and natural materials, the Drum-Boo was designed to teach children the power of sound through their own hands. Instead of simply playing an instrument, they built one, learning patience, creativity, and resourcefulness along the way.
It was truly wonderful seeing the children as they sanded, tied, tapped, and tested until each Drum-Boo had its own voice. These instruments were not just tools for music; they became symbols of effort, collaboration, and joy. Seeing the pride in their faces the moment they played the first beat was a reminder that creation is one of the most powerful forms of learning.

A Performance to Remember
We concluded the week with a heartfelt performance. With ukuleles, voices, and our handmade Drum-Boos, the children stood confidently and shared their music with friends and families. Some played rhythm, some sang, some swayed with the beat — each child adding their own expression and presence to our growing Ananda Hub community.
This closing performance was not about perfection. It was about courage, connection, and celebration. It represented everything we believe in: learning through doing, honoring creativity, and nurturing confidence in every child.
